Cancer Awareness Programme at KITS, Ramtek
<p> The Kavikulguru Institute of Technology and Science (KITS), Ramtek, organized a Cancer Awareness Programme for the teaching and non-teaching staff on 30 June 2026 at 3:15 PM in Chhatrapati Shivaji Hall. <br> The programme commenced with the warm welcome of the dignitaries through the presentation of bouquets, followed by the inaugural address by the Principal, Dr. Avinash N. Shrikhande. In his address, he emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare, regular medical check-ups, early diagnosis, and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle to reduce the risk of cancer and other lifestyle-related diseases.<br> The highlight of the programme was an expert session delivered by Dr. Kiran Sonekar, Project Director and Senior Expert Counselor – Cancer Awareness. Dr. Sonekar presented an insightful and informative talk covering various aspects of cancer, including its risk factors, early warning signs, and methods of early detection, available screening techniques, preventive measures, and the role of healthy lifestyle choices in cancer prevention. The session also featured an interactive discussion, during which participants actively raised questions and received valuable guidance from the expert. <br> As a token of gratitude, the institute felicitated the guest speaker with a memento in recognition of the valuable contribution to the programme. <br> The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the teaching and non-teaching staff. The participants highly appreciated the informative session and expressed their commitment to adopting healthier habits and creating awareness about cancer prevention among their families, colleagues, and the community. <br> The programme was organized under the Cancer Free India initiative and received valuable support, visionary guidance, and constant encouragement from the Honourable Secretary, Sri V. Srinivas Rao. The successful organization of the event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Dean (Student Activities), Dr. Pankaj S. Ashtankar. <br> The programme was gracefully anchored by Mrs. Pranali Menghare, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Snehal Malode. The event concluded with the singing of the National Anthem. <br> </p>
