Mechanical Engineering Department

Mechanical Engineering Department is the oldest department of the Institute Established in 1985. The department had accredited "Twice" by the N.B.A., A.I.C.T.E., and New Delhi for its consistent quality-seeking approach towards dissemination of high-level technical knowledge. Now the department also received funds for its ongoing and future research projects from government institutions. The total intake capacity per year of the department is 60 students at UG level. The department offers PG programme in Heat Power Engineering and has been approved as "Research Centre" for pursuing Ph.D. by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur. The Mechanical Engineering department has well qualified faculties and well equipped labs.

Programs Offered

B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

Department offers an undergraduate B.Tech. Degree programme in since 1985 with sanctioned intake of 60 students. Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and broadest branches of engineering, dealing with the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It combines principles of physics, mathematics, and material science to solve problems and create technologies that make life easier. Mechanical Engineering plays a vital role across a wide range of domains, including Design & Development, Manufacturing, Thermal Systems, Robotics & Automation, Energy Systems, and Maintenance & Inspection.The discipline offers a strong foundation in core subjects such as Engineering Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Manufacturing Processes, Machine Design, Heat Transfer, Mechatronics & Control Systems, and CAD/CAM, along with proficiency in modern software tools for design, analysis, and manufacturing simulation.Mechanical Engineers have career opportunities in diverse sectors such as Automotive, Aerospace, Energy & Power, Robotics & Automation, Manufacturing, Marine & Shipbuilding, and Railways & Transport Systems.

M. Tech.in Heat Power Engineering

Department offers a post graduate programme in Heat power engineering since 2010 with an intake of 18 students. Heat Power Engineering focused on the generation, conversion, transmission, and utilization of thermal energy (heat) for producing mechanical work or power. Main focus to produce skilled and well trained engineers who resolves the real life problems in thermal and allied field/sector.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

Department offers a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program since 2016 with an intake of 10 students. Institute laboratories and infrastructure facilitates researchers to conduct experimentations in internal combustion engine, solar energy, refrigeration, heat transfer, CAD/CAM, design and allied area.

Departmental Library

Departmental library consists of 130 titles with 220 books for the students. It also contains various IS Codes, journals and periodicals. VCDs on material and soil testing are also available. The project reports and case study reports of previous year students are also available in the departmental library.

Approved Research Centre

The Department has been recognized as a place of Research by RTM Nagpur University from 2016-17. The centre can enroll up to 10 research scholars. There are three Ph.D. supervisors recognized by the university, and some scholars are already pursuing Ph.D. here.

Mechanical Engineering Association (MEA)

The MEA fosters personality development of students through co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. It organizes expert lectures, seminars, debates, quizzes, personality contests, and contributes actively in the national-level festival Teknodeon.

Summer Training

At the end of VI semester, students undergo 3-4 week training/internships. Their work is evaluated by an Expert Committee through presentations.
